Wuzhi Wuzhi is a small city located between Jiaozuo and Xinxiang on the north of the yellow river and above Zhengzhou the main city of Henan county. Wuzhi has about 700 000+ inhabitants and is thus not on most Chinese maps. It is not a big city and possess no worthy nightclub nor fast-food chains. However Wuzhi has many charms for those who take time to stay long enough. Wuzhi is an authentic rural Chinese small city with old houses and temples. The local food is genuinely good and inexpensive. Vegetables and fruits are mostly locally made. People are kind and simple and are more than enthusiastic to communicate with foreigners. It’s a foreigner-free land which makes it a great place for learning Chinese. Wuzhi is also 1hour away from Chenjiaogou / The Chen Village, the birth place of all the Taiji (taichi) styles in China and a bit more than 4 hours away from the Shaolin Temple (the most renowned martial art temple in the world). Being so situated, Wuzhi also possesses many famous martial arts master such as ChengLijun, a Taiji master quite reputed in Germany. We can thus propose top Chinese martial training for those who are interested. Not far from there you can find the Yun Tai mountain, range of breath taking mountain and springs which are part of the world’s heritage, or the yellow river, the ’birth place of Chinese civilization’.

Wuzhi is an hour and a half north of Zhengzhou the Capital of Henan province. It is not a big city and only has about 700 000 inhabitants. Life there is pretty simple and you if you need to do some Big shopping There is a Carrefour half an hour away in Jiaozuo (or 2 hours by bicycle). Life is good simple and fresh here. Although we have the possibility to offer other types of accommodations, we have chosen to give the possibility for the people attending the “for free” program to stay in ‘the house” The house has several bedrooms, a shower, kitchen garden, air cons and everything you can think about. It is clean, sunny and spacious enough to relax in your free time. In the garden there are a Cherry tree and a Fig tree; and we were currently thinking of growing our own vegetables and building a sauna for the next winter. more picture of the house click here

Attention!

We had some problem with the Wuzhi house early 2008. Since it is a courtyard next to the town center the government decided to take the land. However after many legal procedure the house as been untouched but all the houses around have been completely destroyed. This is causing two problems at the moment. First, as soon as you step out the main gate, it looks like a war zone. Second, the sound isolation have significantly decreased and you may end up hearing quite clearly music coming from the park in the early morning. We are very much aware of the problem and are goinf to fix it. Another house might be available in the near future and a n apartment in Jiaozuo. It is also very likely that the noise and the mess will be sorted out as soon as the officials make up their minds. Until then, All the members of the Wuzhi Experiment community sincerely apologize for any inconveniences it might cause.
